How To Get To Suan Sompou

How to get to Mae Hong Son?
By plane; direct flights from Bangkok and Chiang Mai (www.nokair.com).
By bus; comfortable night bus from Bangkok (www.sombatrtour.com) or minivan from Chiang Mai (www.premprachatransports.com).
Take a ‘tuk-tuk’ for about 50-60 Bahts to your hotel of choice.

How to get to our practice center Suan Sompou / Sompou Gardens?
​By foot; the way we recommend, especially if you arrive in Mae Hong Son by night bus!
By road transport; Ask the bus driver to drop you outside of Pha Bong ผาบ่อง to take the road no 3018 for Naam Piang Din น้ำเพียงดิน  where our centre is located.
12 km in pleasant natural surroundings on a quiet and mostly flat country road.

There is currently no public transportation to our location, but it is also easy to rent the following transportations:
Boat; departs from Huay Deua (800 Baht) or from Tha Pong Daeng (1000 Baht).
Motorbike; about 500 Baht from the city
​Car; about 1000 Baht from Mae Hong Son city.


Where to stay in Mae Hong Son town?
Piya Guesthouse (+66 53-6112600):
Great location and very comfortable: 700 Baht for a room.

Friend House (+66 53-620119):
Clean and friendly, 300 Baht per room.

More Tips:
  • When paying for air tickets by credit card, travel insurance is often included as an option. Travel insurance is critical to have.
  • Best to arrive in South-East Asia one week before the start of the retreat in order to adjust physiologically to the time difference and climate.
  • For more information concerning your visit to Thailand, you will find plenty on the internet and in printed travel guidebooks.
